For Granny Betty
Our dearest Gran, your journey’s done.
A spirit bright, forever young.
With a twinkle in your eye, mischief in your grin,
Your warmth and love, always a treasure within.
Oh, our Granny Betty, a tapestry of memories to unfold,
But here are just a few that are worth more than all the gold.
Remember sleepovers? Toast buttered, Midsomer Murders on the screen,
Jokes cracked, every moment a merry scene.
Remember Flamingo Land? The daring rollercoaster ride,
Your colourful language, face turning white,
It was the first time Lauren and Daniel were called your ‘little shites’.
Remember cooking lessons? Fruit loaves and sweet tablet,
That one time Lauren and Daniel had to compete with ‘pasta a la Kev’,
Oh they were so mad, and they never let you forget it.
Remember morning chores? Work turned into fun,
Polishing furniture, Shake and Vac, and a pound for sweeties to be won.
Remember school lunches? Homemade chips so fine,
And tattie soup so dear,
Each taste a memory, and oh so crystal clear.
Remember our jokes? “Cheeky buggers” you’d jest with a twinkle in your eye,
a bunch of fives threatened, yet laughter forever echoed high.
Now, as we say our goodbyes, tears will surely flow,
But in our hearts, our love for you will always continue to grow.
A final farewell, yet not truly the end,
In our memories, Granny, you’ll forever transcend.
Dear Gran, please take this message,
As you watch from up above,
Oh, how much we miss you,
Our Gran, Betty, we’ll always love.
